Aircraft RCS Engineering – Historical Perspective, Basic Principles, and Stealth Technology This course introduces students to Radar Cross Section (RCS) engineering and its basics fundamentals inside the modern EW context. Commencing with a historical overview, the course passes through all the relevant conflicts where the RCS design plays a significant role, followed by considerations about aircraft missions, tactics, and threats. In sequence, the theoretical part begins involving electromagnetic propagation, radar fundamentals, and design of simple and complex RCS objects. Finally, stealth technology is addressed by presenting current challenges and future perspectives. Register now. Re-scheduled due to technical difficulties. If you have already registered, you do not need to register again. Introduction to Direct Energy Weapons Direct Energy Weapons (DEW) cover a range of systems and applications critical to success in military operations. The goal of this webinar is to help the audience understand DEW systems, the principles of operation, and how they create effects on their targets. Three classes of DEW will be explored: lasers, high power microwaves, and particle beams, which range in maturity from operational systems to almost science fiction. With an understanding of the basics, the system architecture of a DEW will be examined, including generating the source, tracking of targets, atmospheric propagation, and how the resulting wave or particles interact with the target system. Lastly, the presentation will provide an overview of contemporary military applications of DEWs, and where they will evolve in the near term. The U.S. Army has begun the next phase of its High Accuracy Detection and Exploitation System, or HADES, which is intended to provide the mission payload for the service’s next-generation airborne intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) system. (The Drive) It’s not every day that the first graduates of a new special warfare school roll off the line, but that’s what happened on Thursday at Pope Army Airfield, North Carolina when an undisclosed number of students received their grey berets to become Special Reconnaissance airmen. (Task & Purpose) U.S. Air Force electromagnetic spectrum operations were so meager over the last few decades that the service’s top official said recently that it had been “asleep at the wheel” on electronic warfare. (C4ISRNET) The Miniaturised Orbital Electronic Warfare Sensor System (MOESS) project for the Australian Defence Force (ADF) is entering the third phase of development. (Shephard Media) Calendar
