Join us for the continuation of the AOC Discussions | EMSO Leadership series today at 10:30 AM ET. Today's session is a conversation with Vice Admiral Jeffrey Trussler, Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Information Warfare, N2/N6, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations/Director of Naval Intelligence. If you missed the previous sessions, your registration includes the recordings. The next AOC Virtual Series webinar is tomorrow. There's still time and space to register: Thursday, February 25, 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. ET In an era of increasingly sophisticated digital attack vectors through cyberspace as well as Electronic Warfare techniques, critical businesses seeking resilient communication are turning to HF. At the same time state actors, seeking to dodge surveillance or needing long-range communication see HF as a low key less monitored channel. In this presentation we will detail specific propagation challenges of HF DF and discuss how big data tech can be applied to make the interception and DF process faster and simpler. We will investigate latest techniques for HF propagation analysis in a DF context, from time of day issues through sun spot activity impacts. Attendees will receive a refresher of decades of HF and DF accumulated knowledge and be brought right up to date on the latest algorithmic and processing methods that are fundamentally changing the operators role for good. Be sure to check out the full 2021 schedule to sign up for more webinars. Only a few days remain to submit an abstract to be part of the CEMA 2021 program. The conference will be taking place in-person on May 25-26 at the Water’s Edge Event Center in Belcamp, MD. Review the program description below and if the subject matter falls into your expertise, submit your abstract by February 26. Focus on the Future For more information, visit crows.org/cema2021. A truly historic space event took place February 18; NASA landed its fifth rover, Perseverance, on the surface of Mars. The main mission is to search for signs of microbial life in the soil, collecting samples in the hopes a future mission can bring them back to earth. This is something that’s never been done before. Georgia Tech senior Breanna Ivey tested out the math that helps the rover move during an internship last year. “It will be exciting anyway, if I didn’t have a role in it, but it’s even more exciting to know that I touched something that is going to land on Mars and be the first step in a mission to actually bring samples back,” Ivey said. From Macon, GA, Ivey has been a recipient of the Dixie Crow Education Foundation STEM Scholarship the last four years while attending Georgia Tech in Atlanta, GA. Industry News
