It will consider the possible responses, how thinking and attitudes must change, and examine the new capabilities that will be required across all lines of development, by all services, in all countries in the free world. The Conference will consist of plenary sessions focusing on operations, defence capability development, and industry inventiveness. AOC EW Lausanne 2018 will bring together the EW, SIGINT, C4ISR, Cyber EM Activities (CEMA) communities and more. Speakers will include leaders and operators from the military, government, and academia, S&T and international R&D communities and, crucially industry. Cyberspace and Electronic Warfare technical capabilities are becoming more technically similar. However, the communities which practice these disciplines remain largely separated and vary widely across the military Services in terms of their equipment, unit organization and operating methodologies. This conference provides the EW and Cyberspace communities an opportunity to collaborate and discuss capabilities, TTPs and research in EW and Cyberspace operations to enable more rapid deployment of new and improved capabilities. The Cyber/EW Convergence Conference identifies ways to develop advanced technologies and systems to address the changing battlefield dynamics of the digital age and bring EW and Cyberspace together for the Warfighter! This conference is CLASSIFIED: TOP SECRET//SI/TK//NOFORN. All attendees must be registered and have an active TS//SCI clearance. This webinar examines the concepts in mode design for airborne, tactical multi-mode fire-control radar systems and the signal processing used for target acquisition, tracking and surveillance. The necessary air-to-air modes and air-to-ground modes will be examined. Waveform design concepts and digital signal processing techniques used in the presence of clutter and other interferences are presented. Radar modes treated include continuous wave (CW), high pulse repetition frequency (HPRF) and medium pulse repetition frequency (MPRF) for air-to-air targeting and surveillance. Waveforms examined include velocity search, range-while-search and rangegated HPRF. Low Probability of Intercept (LPI) waveforms and track-while-scan are also discussed. Target acquisition and single-target-track are also emphasized. WEBINAR PRESENTER: Dr. Phillip Pace, Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering professor, Naval Postgraduate School. When Vladimir Putin said last fall that artificial intelligence is “humanity’s future” and that the country that masters it will “get to rule the world,” some observers guessed that the Russian president was hinting at unrevealed progress and breakthroughs in the field. But a glance at publicly available statistics indicates otherwise. Russia’s annual domestic investment in AI is probably around 700 million rubles ($12.5 million) – a paltry sum next to the billions being spent by American and Chinese companies. Even if private-sector investment rises as expected to 28 billion rubles ($500 million) by 2020, that will still be just a fraction of the global total. (Defense One) After sailing through two friendly Senate hearings—one so uncontroversial that only six senators tops bothered to even show up at any given point in the hour—Lieutenant General Paul Nakasone seems set for confirmation as the next director of the National Security Agency. That means he'll soon lead not just one agency, but two: the world's most powerful spying operation, the NSA, and the world's most powerful military hacker force, US Cyber Command. And for the first time since those two roles were combined in 2010, the man leading them may be more comfortable with the latter—leaving the NSA with the unfamiliar feeling of being the not-quite-favorite sibling. (Wired) The Marine Corps has begun testing capabilities for its new information warfare units, the next step in a broader force-wide initiative to integrate and develop improved information warfare capabilities. The M arine Expeditionary Force Information Groups (MIG) organize all information-related capabilities such as cyber, signals intelligence, electronic warfare and information operations under a single entity. While the MIGs are currently operating within Marine Air Ground Task Forces, the service is looking to test, develop and hone the skills through exercises and training events. These exercises allow the MIGs to integrate with other major subordinate commands. (C4ISRNet) Bruce Jette is the new assistant secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics and Technology where he is responsible for not only acquisition but also serves as the science adviser to the Army secretary, is the senior research and development official and is responsible for matters related to logistics. He has only been on the job for two-and-a-half months, but his knowledge of defense acquisition runs deep.Jette served in the U.S. Army for 28 years, retiring as a colonel after commanding seve ral armor and cavalry companies and holding various staff assignments at the battalion and brigade level.
