AOC VIRTUAL SERIES:
Register for the Next Free Webinar – Hostile Emitter Location: A Critical EW Capability

June 27, 2 p.m. EDT

Sponsored by

In this 45-minute presentation, Dave Adamy will describe the approaches to the passive location of hostile transmitters and the important techniques in current use. Each technique will be described at the system level along with typical applications, the typical location accuracy achieved, and important features and shortcomings. Calibration approaches and practical application challenges will also be discussed.

About Dave Adamy
Dave Adamy has been an EW Systems Engineer, in and out of uniform, for 50 years – working on EW systems from just above D.C. to just above daylight, mounted on platforms from submarines to space. Almost all of these systems included emitter location capabilities. Since 1984, he has run his own company, performing studies for the U.S. government and defense contractors. He also has presented dozens of courses in the U.S. and allied countries on EW and related subjects. He has published more than 200 professional articles on EW, receiver system design and closely related subjects, including the popular "EW 101" column in the Journal of Electronic Defense. He holds an MSEE (communication theory) and has 11 books in print.

AOC NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT at the AOC 50th Annual International Symposium and Convention

Due to sequestration and curtailed government and military travel, the 50th Annual AOC International Symposium & Convention, October 27-30, is one of the few chances your company will have in 2013 for vital face-to-face interaction with your Spectrum Warfare suppliers and customers. It is the most cost-effective vehicle for en-masse discussions between you and military.

To adapt to this new fiscal reality, the AOC recently announced complimentary Symposium registration to both military personnel AND government civilians. Because of the large concentration of military and government personnel around the Washington, D.C. Beltway, this local Symposium will prove to be a widely attended mission-critical meeting of industry, academia, military and government. To accomplish this momentous event, the AOC community needs your support now more than ever.

Sponsorship makes an important statement about your company’s role in supporting our industry. It marks who the leaders are without regard to size and it offers benefits that are difficult to obtain elsewhere.

We welcome your ideas for tailoring any sponsorships or developing something new to fit your needs. Plan early for the best availability and exposure. Visit the Additional Branding Opportunities page to learn how your company can get involved for as little as $500!

URGE YOUR REPRESENTATIVES TO TAKE ACTION! Reversing Sequestration Remains a Critical Need

Because of the White House and Congress’s inability to reach a deal to reverse mandatory across-the-board sequestration budget cuts, the initial round of multibillion-dollar cuts to defense and non-defense federal agencies has begun. Unless reversed, sequestration will cut defense and non-defense programs by $1 trillion over nine years. Sequestration will put at risk more than a million American jobs, including hundreds of thousands of small business jobs, and threatens to stall the economic recovery.

The public is now waking up to the consequences of sequestration. You can make a difference. Write your elected officials and urge them to reverse this bad policy.

The AOC remains committed to stopping sequestration!

MARK YOUR CALENDARS for the AOC 2013 Land EW Conference: Innovation and Demonstration

Due to protracted acquisitions and traditional doctrinal warfare solutions there is a lack of exposure or appreciation for the cutting-edge innovation and technological development resulting in missed opportunities to provide warfighters the most up-to-date spectrum and information related capabilities.

The 2013 Land EW Conference: Innovation and Demonstration will be held December 10-11 in Quantico, VA, to provide a forum for government and commercial attendees to both appreciate the latest innovations and/or witness how these tactics may be implemented.

Day one will consists of sessions covering the most cutting-edge technologies or organizational models whether in theory or some stage of practical development. Day two will focus on demonstrations of technologies or organizational practices that are beyond the theoretical. In either case the intent is for attendees to appreciate the art of the possible and the practical.  Discussions on the latest innovations and demonstrations sessions and demonstrations provide evidence of how the U.S. Military, Government, Academia and Industry partners are developing and implementing technology and changing organizational paradigms in order to exploit the EMS and the information environment.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR for Kittyhawk Week 2013 Technical Interchange Meeting (TIM), June 4-5
You are invited to attend a Technical Interchange Meeting (TIM) in conjunction with Kittyhawk Week 2013. This promises to be an exciting and informative interchange on technology, systems, and operations in EW and intelligence.

Traditionally, Kittyhawk Week has focused on Air Force EW research, but in today’s environment, EW research must take into account a wide range of factors not normally considered part of EW.  Clearly, EW has a strong dependence on the intelligence community, both strategically and tactically. The fundamental goal of Kittyhawk Week is to bring together all the elements of EW and information operations in support of an effective science and technology program for spectrum dominance.

The TIM is scheduled for June 4-5, 2013, and will be held at the Advanced Technical Intelligence Center (ATIC), located in close proximity to Wright-Patterson AFB in Beavercreek, Ohio. ATIC maintains a first-class educational facility designed to support multiple classification levels. The TIM will be at the Secret level, US only. This will be a valuable opportunity for all stakeholders to learn from others in the community and help shape Air Force EW research programs best meeting the needs of combatant commanders.

I hope you will agree, this TIM will be essential in keeping your staff up to date on current research, intelligence, and operations in achieving spectrum dominance.

Please visit the Kittyhawk AOC website, www.KittyhawkAOC.org for more information and to register.

It is difficult to discuss the F-35 without actually knowing what the aircraft is and how F-35 fleets will reshape combat. But this is precisely what the budding negative commentary on the F-35 is built on – a lack of knowledge. Even worse, the existing 5th generation aircraft is not well known either, because of its limited numbers and its condemnation by Secretary of Defense Robert Gates and President Barack Obama as a "Cold War" weapon.
