Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) is the formalized application of modeling to support system requirements, design, analysis, verification and validation activities beginning in the conceptual design phase and continuing throughout development and later life cycles. Systems engineering and MBSE are employed wherever the solution to be designed is a complex system. This course is a heavy-duty engineering treatise designed for the next generation of EW professionals, who will need to be fluent in MBSE. It is taught by Dr. John Borky, who has more than 40 years in technical and leadership positions in electronic technology, avionics systems, and architecture and engineering for information-enabled systems and enterprises. Dr. Borky is a leader in the development and application of MBSE and has instructed courses on the subject at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA).

IO INSTITUTE: Give Us Your Opinion on Re-Branding InfowarCon
The title of InfowarCon has branded the IO Institute’s symposiums for the last few years.

As Information Operations has evolved and is now truly recognized for integration across all capabilities, the nature of these symposiums has matured as well.

In re-branding these semi-annual events, it’s been suggested that the title now change; so we’re asking for your input on the following:

  • Suggest a new anchor title for the IO Institute symposiums that reflects the community maturation
Send suggestion to Norm Balchunas at Balchunas@crows.org

Suggestions will be compiled and evaluated by the IO committee. The selected title’s author will receive complementary admission to the conference that kicks off the new series.

9/11 STORIES: Bringing Them Home – A More Positive Memory from Sept.11, 2001
As a former Air Force officer, Robert Apodaca is keenly aware of the Airman's Creed. What it says and what it means. The words, "I will never leave an Airman behind," sound honorable, and they represent an ideal that every Airman is supposed to live by. But for Apodaca, those words transcend mere language. They represent action. Unlike most Americans, he holds fond memories of the week of Sept. 11, 2001. That is the week the United States Air Force provided a reminder as to what lengths it would take to honor its prisoners of war and missing in action.
