VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: AOC Electronic Warfare Professional Certification Project

In 2010 the AOC conducted a feasibility study that strongly supported the value of a certification program for EW professionals. As a result of the study, the AOC Board of Directors has authorized the AOC Education and Technical Committee, chaired by Tony Lisuzzo, to undertake a Job/Task Analysis (JTA).

A JTA is a process used to evaluate and design certification programs. It collects information about the jobs and tasks that members of a profession actually perform. It also identifies the knowledge and skills that are required by an industry’s workforce to perform their jobs.

The Electronic Warfare profession is broad and includes a diverse set of professional disciplines. The JTA will help identify common elements important to Electronic Warfare professionals across the community which could be considered the "essentials of Electronic Warfare." When finished, the JTA will define the content, education and qualifications for a certification program for Electronic Warfare professionals as well as outline elements of credentialing requirements and testing.

The Education and Technical Committee is looking for a limited number of experienced Electronic Warfare professionals to participate in the two-day Job/Task Analysis scheduled for July at the AOC offices in Alexandria, Virginia. Participants should have a broad-based knowledge of Electronic Warfare and be experienced in various EW professional disciplines.

To register your interest in participating please send a letter of interest, a résumé and a brief statement outlining how you will be able to contribute to the project. Those selected will be notified no later than June 13.

The AOC will contribute to the cost of travel, hotel and meals for participants. In addition, it will offer members of the JTA Work Group a complimentary registration to the November 13-16, 2011 AOC National Convention at the Marriott Wardman Hotel in Washington, DC.
