Our annual picnic at Vinson Valley on Saturday, August 14, was another record breaking event! Mark (Chef Roadkill) recorded approximately 132 responses to attend the event and I believe most, if not all, respondents showed up!!! We only had a handful of hamburgers left over!!!!
Chef Roadkill treated all to the following menu: 280 protein units (BBQ Chicken breasts, Brats, Burgers and Dogs), cole slaw, potato salad, baked beans, nacho cheese & salsa, Roadkill signature cookies & brownies and a variety of beverages for all to help beat the heat!
The park opened at 0900 for the Service Crew to get everything in place for all of the day’s festivities, with participants arriving at 1000. I was very excited to see so many kids swimming, playing basketball/tetherball and sliding down the wet slide!!! The kids also enjoyed face/body painting, balloon art, the kid’s only door prize drawing and busting the piñatas!!! The adults enjoyed participating in the Free Blackjack Tournament with Marsha Leslein taking 1st place; Jerry Brown taking 2nd place and Lisa Frugé taking 3rd place. Great fun was had by all!!!!
Thank you MERC for the Frisbees and thank you BAE for the hand sanitizers; everyone went home with something!
We had beautiful weather and fantastic fellowship opportunities. Thanks to all of the friends and families that took time out of their day to participate. As always, many thanks to Mark Leslein, John Wayne Carter, Greg Carter and the entire "Service Crew" for your efforts making this day such a wonderful event for kids big and small to enjoy!!! Can’t wait til next year!!
