NEXT WEEK! Discuss Performance & Vulnerabilities of Modern IADs and SAMs, in Huntsville, AL
China, North Korea, Russia and Iran have shown substantial growth in their Integrated Air Defense (IAD) and Surface-to-Air Missile (SAM) programs, posing a significant threat to the air superiority long enjoyed by the U.S. and its allies.

The Association of Old Crows (AOC) and the Defense Intelligence Agency's (DIA) Missile and Space Intelligence Center (MSIC) come together at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL, to present Performance & Vulnerabilities of Modern IADs/SAMs Conference. Scheduled for June 19-21, this three-day symposium provides an in-depth review of technical analysis of both modern IADs and SAMs. Discussions cover threat system capabilities and vulnerabilities, status of new development programs, and identify the current and projected proliferation of high-interest air defense systems.

REGISTER NOW! for the 49TH Annual AOC International Symposium & Convention this September in Phoenix
Electromagnetic Spectrum Warfare is entering a new frontier. Much like the settling of the "Wild West," EMS control now affects government, industry and the military alike in their requirement for unfettered spectrum operating freedom globally. The AOC community leads the charge into the dawn of the "Spectrum Age."

Spectrum Warfare practitioners in academia, government, industry and the military must now saddle-up and corral our collective knowledge into a cohesive force, and we must bring young pioneers into the fold and learn from each other. Join us in Phoenix, September 23-26, 2012, as the AOC hosts "Arming the Spectrum Warrior."

ENSURE SYSTEM EFFECTIVENESS: EW Combat Systems Life Cycle Management Conference, July 17-19

Today’s EW combat systems are expensive and likely to remain in the DoD’s inventory longer as downturned budgets struggle to procure replacement systems. To ensure these systems remain effective, both performance insertion and cost reduction will be critically important to EW’s future. The EW Combat Systems Life Cycle Management Conference, July 17-19 at Dahlgren, VA, will discuss in depth how all three services and other DoD agencies insert performance enhancements into legacy systems. We will discuss cost reduction concepts including combat systems integration, and use, as a case study, the Navy’s new product-line approach to improve the vertical integration of its EW systems.

EDUCATING THE SPECTRUM WARRIOR: Harnessing STEM & Spectrum Management Conference this August in Fort Walton Beach, FL

This inaugural conference addresses key Special Operation’s concerns about tomorrow’s EMS battlespace, specifically the programming, planning and execution of operational Special Operations Forces within the EMS across all domains. This highly charged aspect of the conference will have presentations from SOF senior leaders, operators and programmers. Declining SOF budgets make it imperative that government, industry and academia come together to demonstrate innovation in speedy acquisition and development of critical EMS enabling capabilities.

Senior leaders from Congress, OSD, military services, research labs and other government organizations will then discuss and engage attendees on the vital role science, technology, engineering and mathematics play on preparing military operations and personnel. The goal of the STEM portion of the conference supports OSD’s focus and vision: to safeguard our nation's security by developing world-class STEM talent in science, mathematics, technology and engineering. It is critical for SOF that students pursue STEM careers and advance basic scientific research. DoD has a long history of supporting STEM initiatives at local, regional and national levels; STEM education is essential for the U.S. to remain the economic and technological leader of the 21st century global marketplace.

In addition to the two days of unclassified presentations and discussions, attendees are encouraged to sign up to attend the complimentary classified day held by AFSOC on Thursday.

NEW PACIFIC RIM CONFERENCE: Pacific Theater Air, Sea, Land Battle Concept: IO/EW/Cyber Operations, October 16-18 in Honolulu

The Information Operations Institute and the Association of Old Crows are proud to present this conference on the hottest topic facing the world today and in the future: The Pacific Rim. Sessions include topics on the South China Sea and surrounding waterways of global significance. This International Conference brings experts from the U.S., Japan, Korea, and other countries to discuss the issues affecting this area, new concepts of operations (air, sea, land battle concept), with a concentration on programming and budget areas.

The South China Sea is an area of primary concern for many nations. The U.S. DoD is building its air, sea battle concept encompassing not only traditional air and maritime operations but also incorporating the IO/Cyber/EW operations and programming. It is critical that all nations come together to build viable joint concepts and ensure the programming funding is in place to bring the concepts to fruition. Foreseen as an annual event and concentrating on strategic international partnerships, this conference promises to be one that is on the leading edge of future operations in the Pacific Theater.

Essentials of 21st Century Electronic Warfare Course, August 7-10- LIMITED SPACE AVAILABLE!
This course will provide an overview of Electronic Warfare from its roots in Electronic Combat to its contemporary EM Spectrum Warfare applications. Although this is not a technical course aimed at engineers, certain technological principles will be presented in order to baseline attendees and help demonstrate the unique knowledge skills and abilities that warfare across the EM spectrum requires. Lessons will include current information from DoD issuances, Joint doctrine, service program plans and roadmaps, analysis projects and lessons learned from operations. Instructor: Lynn Berg

Survey of EM Battle Management Applications Course, August 20
Join us in Fort Walton Beach, FL, for this great educational opportunity. One of the most pressing deficiencies in recent joint operations has been trying to achieve coordinated and cohesive operations within the Electromagnetic Environment (EME). Decades of "lessons learned" and interference reports have culminated in a realization that anything that operates in the EM spectrum (communicates, radiates, locates) must be effectively managed. This short survey course will review current processes in EW and Spectrum Management, but it will also outline many of the requirements and challenges of building an effective EM Battle Management architecture.
