As part of the AOC's suggested strategy for EW in the 21st century paper and conference; the JP 13-1 definition for Electronic Warfare must be restated to reflect the maturation of technologies across the Electromagnetic Spectrum (EMS). The USA has announced plans to go ahead with a $6.1 billion arms deal with Taiwan, including the sale of 60 Sikorsky UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters and 114 Patriot PAC-3 missiles. (Flightglobal)

China angrily responded to a decision by the Obama administration to go ahead with a $6.4 billion arms sale to Taiwan by suspending military exchanges, adding to tensions between the countries who are now increasingly at odds over a broad range of security and economic issues. Col. Jeff Butler is one of two Air Force Academy grads who will be honored at the upcoming 36th National Society of Black Engineers Annual Convention April 3 in Toronto. Col. Butler, an EW engineer, was selected for Lifetime Achievement in Government. (AF.mil)

Germany's ambassador on Friday described as a "nasty surprise" India's decision to scrap a tender for six refuelling planes, for which Franco-German group EADS was the front-runner. (AFP)

According to a survey conducted by CSO magazine and sponsored by Deloitte, the threats posed by cybercrime against companies are increasing quicker than defensive measures are put into place. The 2010 CyberSecurity Watch Survey also suggests that current countermeasures against cyber criminals are not particularly effective. (The New New Internet)

Senior defense officials will aim to hold annual funding levels for weapon programs steady because they know good program performance depends on stability, the Pentagon's top arms buyer said. (AirForce Times)
